Kristine Kay: In The Press
Kristine Kay is featured in the July issue of Skin Inc. Magazine. She was interviewed by Cathy Christensen for her “Face to Face” article.
The article chronicles Kristine’s career from art student to photographer to celebrity makeup artist to skincare specialist and now salon owner.
Kristine Kay opened Shampagne in October 2007 bringing back to her hometown of Kansas City, a bit of California casual chic that she came to love while living in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Bangs are hot, just make sure you get the right bangs. Bangs are not for everyone, but they pack a powerful punch when trying to update your look. We love the look of thick, heavy bangs and side-swept bangs. Just avoid the thin, wispy, all-one-length bangs. It will make your face look “boxy” and dated. A very hot look right now is thick bangs paired with long, wavy layers. Sexy.
Especially with perfect highlights. Not ready for the thick bangs? Try side-swept bangs paired with long layers. Layering hair with bangs works best because it’s less boxy while allowing your hair to grow out without looking too extreme if you decide to grow out the trend.

Makeup doesn’t last forever. It can spoil, discolor, and lose its effectiveness.
Know when to throw…
mascara: 3-6 months (never share with others)
moisturizer: 3-12 months (never dip fingers into pots)
foundation: 6-12 months (change with seasons)
powder: 2 years (clean sponges and brushes often)
concealer: 6-8 months (don’t touch breakouts directly)
lipstick: 2 years (dip in alcohol to clean)
eye/lip pencil: 2 years (sharpen between use)
fragrance: 18 months – 3 years (keep out of sunlight)

Leave it to those crafty Brazilians (who by the way, give the BEST blowouts) to bring their secret Brazilian Keratin Treatment (a.k.a. BKT) treatment to the States. Just like the now ubiquitous Brazilian Bikini Wax, prepare yourself for the fanaticism that the aptly named “Brazilian Blowout” is about to cause. The Brazilian is different from Japanese straightening because it doesn’t completely straighten the hair. The hair still has plenty of volume and body and can still be worn curly or wavy. The Brazilian just softens whatever curl or wave you have. If the hair is air dried without a blow dryer, it will still have wave or curl but no frizz. On the flip side, if you want to blow dry your hair straight, you can do that, without a brush, in a fraction of the amount of time it would have taken without the Brazilian. Also, with other methods, there is a line of demarcation, meaning that when new hair grows in, it is curly/ wavy while the rest of the hair is straight. This method washes away with time and is diffused, so there is no noticeable difference between new hair and treated hair.
